Stewardship

Christian stewardship is grateful and responsible use of God's gifts in the light of God's purpose as revealed in Jesus Christ. Christian stewards, empowered by the Holy Spirit, commit themselves to conscious, purposeful decisions. It is giving as God has given to them.

Both for the individual and for the community, stewardship is a joyful act for the sake of God's world.

Stewardship has also been defined as: What I do, with all that I have, after I say, "I believe" and using the gifts God has given us, to do the work God is calling us to do.

The community of Holy Spirit Ecumenical Catholic Church is committed to the practice of intentional Christian stewardship of our time, talents and resources. We encourage proportional giving as a means for personal growth in Christian discipleship and community.

Building Our Future Together

In May 2008, our community embarked on a 156-week (3 year) journey of "Building Our Future Together". Our journey is, first and foremost, a spiritual expression toward the God who has blessed us, as we call into mind the many gifts that God has granted us. Our community yearns to spread the "Good News" of Jesus Christ and to share the Table of God without boundaries or distinctions. We pray for discernment in listening for the Spirit's voice as we are asked to share our gifts of treasure with others. Our prayer of faith is that God will bless our community and provide for its future, according to His Will. Our journey is also a commitment of financial stewardship, beyond our Sunday tithes and offerings, to address the longer-term needs of our community:

As we share God's "Good News" and walk toward our future, please continue to pray this prayer:

Gracious God, You are the source of all goodness. Grant us Your wisdom and vision as we walk on our journey of stewardship and commitment toward the future of our faith community. Send us Your Spirit to guide us as we continue to share the message of Your Son. Open our hearts to be generous because of our love for You. We raise our prayer to you, that all members of this community may discern Your Will and that our efforts may be successful, according to Your Will. We ask this in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
